ABOUT SARAH
American cellist Sarah Schoeffler is active as both a performer and pedagogue in New York City. From 2018 to 2021, she was a member of The Orchestra Now, where she served as one of the principal cellists. Prior to joining TÅŒN, Sarah was principal cellist of the Mannes Orchestra and the Mannes Opera Orchestra. She has also served as principal cellist for the Arezzo Opera Festival (Arezzo, Italy), MACE (Mannes American Composers Ensemble), Apotheosis Opera (New York, NY), the Joffrey Ballet (New York, NY), and has performed at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium, Alice Tully Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Severance Hall, Symphony Space, Teatro Petrarca, El Museo del Barrio, and Kaye Playhouse, among many others. Sarah is a passionate chamber musician, and in December 2016 her piano trio, Trio FSX, made its Carnegie Hall debut in Weill Recital Hall. Other notable performances include concerts at the Bohemian National Hall, The Frick Collection, Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church, Ernst C. Stiefel Concert Hall, Church of the Holy Trinity, and the Hungarian House as well as performances with Æon Music Ensemble at Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall, collaboration with soprano Susanna Phillips at the Guggenheim Museum and French Institute Alliance Francaise, and performances at National Sawdust. She was a full-scholarship young artist at the Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival for the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Sarah holds BM and MM degrees from the Mannes College of Music, where she was a scholarship recipient and student of Marcy Rosen. She is a faculty member at Lucy Moses School at the Kaufman Music Center and the Lawrence Eisman Center for Preparatory Studies at Queens College and has receieved Suzuki Teacher Training at the School for Strings under the instruction of Pamela Devenport and Alex Croxton. Sarah plays a 1923 Noe Annichiarico cello from Bari, Italy.
